Emigre 59: Economy of Means, guest-edited and -designed by Joshua Trees and Yvan Martinez, featuring typographic treatments by Rudy VanderLans and bitmap fonts by Zuzana Licko. All content (including 3 custom-designed typefaces: Pel, Net Ten and Old School) was created around the critical essays of Rick Poynor and Chris Riley. Instead of illustrating the texts, a dialogue was opened between "illustrations" and words, at times challenging and contradicting the authors' ideas.
